Challenging case

We turn away about half of the people who contact us for care. Perhaps I should have turned away this case. It was a challenge for multiple reasons:

— It took a long time because there were 6 joints to rebuild.
— It took even longer because there were new injuries along the way.
— The patient had a tricky illness before he was under our care, and then a new, severe illness during the years he was under our medical care.

I began the below interview by saying that his story was almost too much:

I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to share some music that was new to me this year. I was driving home this Summer and listening to Classical KHFM on the radio. The DJ introduced a classical TUBA player, Velvet Brown! I listened and I was hooked. Here are excerpts of a solo and also a brass quintet:

I am writing this on 11/22/25. The great majority of the landscape is by now bare and gray. But even today, there is still beauty to be appreciated.
